Privacy Policy
Vibe Hunting Website & Browser Extension
Effective Date: June 13, 2026 • Last Updated: June 13, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Vibe Hunting (“Vibe Hunting”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our website at vibehunting.careers (the “Site”), our browser extension (the “Extension”), and related features (together, the “Service”).
Vibe Hunting is an AI-powered job-search assistant. From a single profile, the Service scores how well your resume matches a specific job, highlights your strengths and gaps, suggests an application strategy, helps you draft tailored answers to application questions, builds a reusable answer library, and helps you keep track of the roles you apply to.
The Extension has a single, focused purpose: to help job seekers evaluate and apply to jobs more effectively on the job pages where they choose to use it. By creating an account, installing the Extension, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see your plain-text password.
- Profile and resume information: your name, email, phone number, location, LinkedIn and portfolio links, a professional summary, and your resume (both the file you upload and the text parsed from it). From this we derive structured details such as your skills, work experience, education, certifications, and project or case-study highlights.
- Career preferences: details such as your preferred work mode, target company stage, role type, preferred location and openness to relocation, current and expected compensation, notice period, short- and long-term career goals, and leadership aspirations.
- Application content: questions from job application forms and the answers you generate, edit, or save to your personal answer library, along with records of the roles you choose to track (company, role title, job link, status, and your own notes).
2.2 Information collected from job pages
- Job listing data: when you use the Extension on a job posting, it reads the content of that page to extract the job description and related details, including the job title, company name, posting date, applicant count, platform, and the page URL, so it can score your fit and pre-fill the application assistant. The Extension reads page content for the purpose of detecting and analysing job postings; it is not used to monitor your general browsing.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Technical and usage data: device and browser type, operating system, language preference, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic usage and diagnostic information, used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Locally stored data: the Extension stores a small amount of data in your browser using Chrome’s storage, namely your authentication token (to keep you signed in), a short-lived cache of your profile, and your preferences. This data stays on your device.
3. What We Do Not Collect or Do
To be clear about our limits, we do not:
- Collect your general browsing history.
- Collect passwords, login credentials, or form data from third-party websites.
- Access your email inbox, messages, contacts, or files.
- Collect financial or payment-card details through the Extension (any payments are handled on the Site by a third-party payment processor).
- Access your camera, microphone, or precise device location.
- Read or transmit the content of pages unrelated to your job search, beyond what is needed to detect whether a page is a job posting.
- Sell your personal information, or use it for advertising, ad targeting, or building profiles for third parties.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the core features: generate match scores, gap analysis, and application strategy; draft and refine answers to application questions; maintain your answer library; and track the applications you add.
- Personalise outputs to your profile, preferences, and the specific job you are viewing.
- Create and maintain your account and keep you signed in across sessions.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service, including through aggregated and de-identified analysis that does not identify you.
- Communicate with you about the Service, including service and security notices and, where permitted, product updates (you can opt out of non-essential messages).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
5. AI Processing and Service Providers
To generate scores, analyses, and application answers, we send the relevant inputs (such as your resume text, the job description, and the question you are answering) to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic, the provider of the Claude models) that processes them on our behalf and returns the result. Our AI provider processes these inputs solely to generate the requested output and does not use your inputs or outputs to train its models.
We also rely on the following categories of service providers, who act as our processors under contract and may use your information only to provide services to us:
- Infrastructure and storage: we use Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage (for example, your saved profile, resume file, answer library, and application records).
- Hosting: we use reputable cloud hosting providers to run our website and APIs.
These providers may process data in the United States or other countries. We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
6. How We Share Information
We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:
- With service providers: as described in Section 5, to operate the Service on our behalf.
- For legal reasons: to comply with applicable law, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Vibe Hunting.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred; we will require the recipient to honour this Policy or will notify you of any material change.
- With your consent or at your direction: for example, when you choose to export or share your data.
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. Browser Extension Permissions
The Extension requests only the permissions needed for its features. Each is used for a specific, limited purpose:
- activeTab: to read the job posting on the tab you are actively viewing when you invoke the Extension, so it can extract the job description and context.
- scripting: to insert helper elements (such as a “Check Fit” button) and read job content on supported pages.
- sidePanel: to display the Vibe Hunting panel alongside the page.
- storage: to save your authentication token, cached profile, and preferences locally in your browser.
- Host permissions: for supported job boards (such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Greenhouse, Lever, Wellfound, and Ashby) and for our own backend at vibehunting.careers, to detect job postings on those sites and to communicate securely with our servers.
A content script that can run across pages is used only to detect whether the current page is a job posting and to surface the Extension’s button. It does not read, transmit, or store the content of pages that are not job postings.
Limited Use.Vibe Hunting’s collection and use of information through the Extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use the information we collect only to provide and improve the user-facing features described in this Policy, and we do not transfer or use it for unrelated purposes.
8. Data Retention
- Your account, saved profile, answer library, and application records are retained while your account is active, and then until you delete them or close your account. When you delete an item or your account, we delete or de-identify the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
- Inputs sent for a match score or answer generation are processed to produce your result and are not retained by our scoring service as a separate record; the results you choose to save are stored in your account.
- Data stored locally by the Extension remains on your device until you clear it, sign out, or uninstall the Extension.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), encryption at rest at our storage provider, access controls, and row-level security so that each user can access only their own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in these countries.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have rights to access, correct, update, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. In particular, you can:
- Review and update much of your information directly in your account.
- Edit or delete saved answers and tracked applications at any time.
- Uninstall the Extension and clear its locally stored data at any time.
To make a request or ask a question, contact us at jobreferrals26@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
12. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website uses essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to operate the Site. We do not use advertising cookies. The Extension does not use cookies; it stores limited data using Chrome’s storage, as described in Section 2. If we introduce analytics or other non-essential technologies in the future, we will update this Policy.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for adults seeking employment and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last Updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice through the Service or by other means. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
